Lucy left last Tuesday morning for Washington, D.C. with a huge group of 8th grade students from Abilene. They were supposed to be back on Friday night but there were weather issues and flights all up and down the east coast were cancelled....so....they were stuck. They had a great time and were able to see more and just be together....isn't that what every 8th grader wants...time with their friends. Lucy is exhausted but very happy. She brought me a present...buttons from the Holocaust Museum. They say "Remember the children" and "Never Again". We can say "never again" but it is happening in so many places and we have ignored it. What is wrong with us?

I want to go to the Holocaust museum sometime. I bet it's a very powerful experience.
It is powerful - but almost too painful to bear.
I haven't been. I never saw Schindler's List. I know it was horrible. I've read and seen plenty. Humans can be infinitely cruel.
I wish we could stop evil. "Never again" would be nice, but it isn't really a possiblity. We can't control everybody.
"remember the children". wow. satan is alive and well but much smaller than he'd like us to think.
When we were in Germany a few years ago we were able to visit Dachau concentration camp. It was a very somber and sobering experience.
Such fun...my 2nd cousin used to do those trips with Abilene 8th graders every year. Martha Roberson - does she still organize the trip?
The holocaust museum is so powerful. And you're so right about "never again." But at least we haven't forgotton. Memory has a way of turning in to conscience if we let it. But we have to let it.
