Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week

I think that tonight I will eat my favorite ice cream....one of my favorites....either Blue Bell Pralines and Cream or Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia...I will eat as much as I want....I deserve it.
I can't take anymore disappointments or goodbyes.
Today was Dr. Rector's last day at work at ACU. I am going to miss him. Our working relationship was great and he had also become a good friend. He is compassionate, knowledgeable, full of the Spirit, a great listener, a good laugher, and patient. The students received excellent care from him. These will be big shoes to fill. He left this afternoon and I sat at my desk for about a half an hour crying...just couldn't pull it back together. Then later, I was taking care of a patient and several men came to move his desk out, my husband came by to pick up the key and two men came to fix a door...I wasn't sure which door and they seemed a little upset that I didn't know....I gave suggestions but they didn't like that either. After they all left I was felt so alone.
We had a candidate for Dr. Rector's job but he declined our offer and that made me sad also.
I am grieving one doctor leaving and another one not coming.
I think that I deserve ice cream.

WW II Novels

I had been searching for a book for a couple of months and had been unable to find it. I finally found a used copy and bought it. About the fourth sentence into the book I realized that I had already read it. I did read it again and it is still thought provoking and powerful. Pixie told me to read it a long time ago and I guess that I did but then everyone starting telling me to read it again and I couldn't remember that I did....so now I own it and I have read it twice. The book is The Reader by Bernhard Schlink. The movie will be released in December. Yay!
I finished it and immediately started a book titled Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum. I am almost done with it and it is enthralling. Both books deal with the German side of the war and the horror of it and human side of the Germans and what they did to survive. I need my book club back so that we can talk about them.
A quote from Those Who Save Us: Who among us is not stained by the past?
You have to read the book to know who says this and why. That is a surprising moment in the story.
Are any of you old book clubbers out there?

Something Light

Just something light to bring me back to blogland.
I have this crazy thing about pajamas. I love them. I have too many of them but I can't help it. I bought a new nightgown tonight. I love crazy prints and bright colors on them. The nightgown that I found tonight is so cute. Tim tried to make a deal with me about the nightgown. He wanted me to trade a pair in my drawer or agree to put some in my closet. I love them all smashed in the same drawer and I love wearing them....fresh and new and smelling wonderful and old and frayed but still smelling wonderful. I have garden gnome pajamas, pink flamingo pajamas, a cherry nightgown......the list is long...but tonight I bought an owl sleepshirt. So cute!!!
